Meetings and Seminars
The Indiana University Bone and Mineral Study Club is a local club for scientists from all Schools (Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Science, and Engineering & Technology) of the IUPUI campus in Indianapolis, from Indiana and Purdue Universities, as well as from local industries. The Club meets 1-2 times each month for informal presentation and discussion in the area of bone and mineral studies, and it provides an ideal forum for presenting and discussing new ideas and for allowing trainees experience in presenting their work.
The main purpose of the Bone Journal Club (Bone JC) is to discuss published literature related to the research interests of the club members. It also aims to share data on the issue of discussion, and to help the drafting of new grant applications. These meetings will be a platform for new faculty and fellows to get to know colleagues at Indiana University (IU) with similar interests, and to increase collaborations across laboratories.
The IUSM Motoneuron Club is a group of scientists and clinicians dedicated to studying motoneuron biology and disease. This group meets monthly for a dinner seminar where motoneuron experts across the country are invited to present their research. These sessions provide an excellent platform for collaborations between scientists to form and flourish, as well as discuss the translational potential of our research with the physicians that treat motoneuron diseases in the clinic
The statewide discipline retreat is held annually and includes Anatomy faculty from all the centers as well as the Anatomy and Cell Biology faculty at IUSM in Indianapolis. The retreat focuses on issues in anatomical sciences education for the medical school, as well as on research presentations by the faculty.
The Fall Research Forum will be held October 28-29, 2016, and is designed to give all of our state-wide faculty engaged in research the opportunity to interact, share resrouces and techniques, and begin productive collaborations.
